St. Albans (September 19, 2023) – Northwestern Medical Center recently recognized two local EMS employees with the 5-Star Caring Employee Award for going above and beyond to serve our community and help NMC in a time of need.

Garrett Wolski, Enosburg Ambulance Service Director, and Frank Adams, VEFR driver, were recognized last week with the award. The 5-Star Caring Award is given to NMC staff who exemplify a commitment to the level of care and service that NMC strives to achieve. These employees emulate our mission of providing exceptional healthcare for our community. While the honor is typically awarded to staff, NMC leadership chose to recognize these important community partners after receiving a nomination from a grateful staff member.

The nomination said, “Garrett Wolski, Director of EAS was contacted after exhausting other services in search of a crew with a Paramedic. We had 8 out of 9 anticipated transfers to UVMMC, which all required a Paramedic for a higher level of care for our patient’s safety. I called Garrett on his personal cell and explained the dilemma. We knew that we would have back-to-back transfers as the patient bed assignments would occur closely as they had many discharges that opened up room availability. He and Frank Adams took 6 out of the 8 transfers back-to-back with virtually no stops and got all of our patients down to UVMMC. Garrett and Frank’s willingness to go above and beyond for the community to get our patients transferred in a safe and timely manner goes to show their dedication to their roles and their partnership with NMC!”

NMC is incredibly grateful and appreciative of Garrett Wolski and Frank Adams working outside of their scheduled hours to help our patients receive care in a time of need.
