NMC’s Auxiliary Makes Donation to Bashaw Fund

NMC’s Auxiliary Board and Membership recently approved a $1,500 donation to the Jim Bashaw Cancer and Catastrophic Illness Fund.

The Bashaw Fund was created in memory of Jim Bashaw, a beloved teacher, guidance counselor and longtime girls’ basketball coach at BFA. After being diagnosed with brain cancer in February of 2000, he valiantly fought his illness until his death on August 16th of the same year. Jim’s life and death affected not only his family and friends, but the entire community. To honor Jim’s memory, a fund was established to provide financial assistance to residents of Franklin and Grand Isle Counties who are experiencing catastrophic illness from cancer or other causes.

The Auxiliary donation came up for discussion during the groups February membership meeting, following a recommendation from the Auxiliary’s board. The idea was prompted by fundraising outreach by the Bashaw Fund, and was generously supported by the Auxiliary.

The Auxiliary’s mission is supporting Northwestern Center through fundraising and positive community relations and members meets four times a year in September, November, February and April,

New Auxiliary members are always welcome. Please contact the Auxiliary/Volunteer office at Northwestern Medical Center at 524-1055 if you are interested in becoming a member or volunteering for your local community hospital.
