Here’s what we mean when we use these terms:

Diversity

The composition and makeup of an organization and the surrounding community. This often refers to demographic representation including, but not limited to, ability, age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, nationality, race, and sexuality.

Equity

Efforts to ensure that all can succeed, regardless of their differences, by the intentional creation of access. It includes the recognition that each person or group has different circumstances and specific needs to be met in order to reach the same outcome as others

Inclusion

How people experience their organization and community; a sense of being valued and respected as an individual. The practice of respecting and appreciating all participants’ backgrounds and cultural values.

Belonging

The feeling of being accepted, as one’s authentic self, by a community or group.
