Dr. Toby Sadkin Earns 2017 Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award

Dr. Toby Sadkin, Medical Director of Primary Care Health Partners, was honored with the Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award at Northwestern Medical Center’s Medical Staff Appreciation Dinner held las week.

The award was created in 2011 to honor a provider with a “passion for excellence and dedication to the patients of our community.” Its namesake, Dr. Esguerra, was known as a caring, passionate and inspirational physician who loved both the science and art of medicine.

Dr. Lowrey Sullivan, NMC’s Chief Medical Office, said Dr. Sadkin’s influence and impact on primary care in our community make her an outstanding choice for the award.

“Toby influence in primary care spans the entire state, it is impossible to describe the impact of her energy, her expertise and her passion for health care in just a few bullets.”

Dr. Sullivan noted her role as Medical Director of PCHP, her active involvement in the governance of the OneCare Accountable Care Oganization, her membership on the Unified Community Collaborative and her 25 years of service to her patience.

Dr. Sadkin joins a list of “Deo Award” honors that that includes Dr. Fred Holmes, Dr. Frank Zsoldos, Dr. Mike Corrigan, Dr. Robert Zelazo and Dr. Stephen Payne. Several of those providers were on hand at the dinner to congratulate the new honoree.

In addition to the presentation of the Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award, NMC’s Annual Medical Staff Appreciation Dinner featured the introduction of new providers, celebrated accomplishments and highlights from the year, and recognized physicians and advance practice clinicians who have achieved milestones in length of service during the year.

NMC CEO Jill Berry Bowen praised the team of providers, and thanked them for their dedication to the community. She highlighted many advancements and accolades including care coordination, prioritization of mental health, the advancement of primary prevention and a renewed focus on quality with medical staff leading the way.

“One constant amidst all the changes happening and proposed in healthcare has been the commitment of all of you, our Medical Staff,” said Bowen. “Your team works tirelessly each day, fulfilling our mission and vision for a healthier future which speaks of excellence, value, and wellness.”
