Emily O’Connor lives on land in St. Albans Town that’s been in her family for many generations, since before Vermont was a state! Her parents live right next door, and her mom cares for their baby daughter Rory while Emily works. Like Rory, Emily was born at NMC thirty-seven years ago. So when she and her husband Caleb were expecting, there was no question about where she would deliver. “We all have a relationship with the hospital,” Emily explains. “I still have my baby t-shirt that says ‘born at NMC,’” she says proudly.
Emily works full time for an electronic medical records software company – she works remotely from home, and her team is located overseas. She also runs a small hobby farm with chickens, ducks, horses and goats. This busy mom appreciated the sensitivity of care they received at NMC. “The nurses would bend over backwards to make sure you were taken care of,” says Emily. “But everyone was also mindful of our privacy, making sure they didn’t overwhelm us with visitation.”
