Yes! As the New Year begins, it is very exciting to have a number of new physicians and Advance Practice Providers joining the NMC Medical Staff! I would like to highlight the new members joining Northwestern Dermatology, Northwestern Pulmonology, Northwestern Orthopaedics, and Northwestern Comprehensive Pain. The arrival of these providers represents significant improvements in access to care in our community. This level of access is so important to helping ensure patients receive the preventive care they need in a timely fashion.

I am pleased to share that Dermatologist Dr. Stephanie Neider is off to a strong start in Franklin County. Dr. Neider earned her medical degree at Ohio State University Medical Center and comes to Vermont from a successful Dermatology practice in Ohio.  Her office, Northwestern Dermatology, is located at 128 Fisher Pond Road, on the second floor of the Northern Valley Eye Care building. Mark your calendars for January 21, 5pm to 7pm, when our colleagues at Northern Valley Eye Care will join Dr. Neider and the Northwestern Dermatology team in hosting a public open house for the practices in the building.

Northwestern Pulmonology is excited to add Pulmonologist Dr. Sabieli Kabeli, who comes to us from Plattsburgh, New York. Dr. Kabeli earned his medical degree in London, England and completed a fellowship in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the Allegheny University of the Health Sciences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We are thrilled to welcome Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Derek Chase, Physician Assistant Ross Thibodeau, and Nurse Practitioner Kamie Holmes to the team at Northwestern Orthopaedics. Their arrival means that we are now fully staffed with Orthopaedic providers! This is a welcomed step forward for local access as new appointments are now available in a very timely manner. Dr. Chase earned his medical degree at the University of Vermont and completed his fellowship training at the Lake Tahoe Sports Medicine Institute. With the full complement of providers in place, the practice provides a comprehensive array of services, including: general orthopaedics, joint replacement, sports medicine, hand surgery, and spine surgery. We are also thankful to have been able to add Dr. Suzan White and Dr. Ryan Herrington to the team at Northwestern Comprehensive Pain. Dr. White is already seeing patients at the practice and Dr. Herrington starts in early January. Dr. White graduated from the University of New England’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her residency training in Psychiatry at Berkshire Medical Center. Dr. Herrington earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, and his Masters in Public Health from the Ohio State University of Public Health in Columbus, Ohio. Together, they will form the core of a strong team helping address a pressing need in our community of comprehensive pain management which includes addiction services. We are fortunate to live in a vibrant community with strong schools, a diverse economy, a wealth of local recreational opportunities, and an engaged medical staff. These factors are key in our ability to recruit new physicians and advanced practice providers to our area. It is exciting to have such talent joining us. Our efforts to expand local access to care continue. As I mentioned last week, we are pleased that one of our pediatrician candidates for an opening in Pediatrics has signed a letter of commitment and we have another strong pediatrician interested in the other opening in Pediatrics. We also continue to build our team in Northwestern Urgent Care and on working on additional specialties to keep pace with community need.
