Update on Impact on NMC Diagnostic Imaging of UVMHN Outage

As the UVM Health Network continues to restore their systems following the cyber attack, Northwestern Medical Center is actively working to accommodate additional patients who are seeking care at our hospital. We have added appointments for new patients while preserving access times for patients in our community.

For patients seeking Radiology imaging who are new to NMC and whose provider is based at UVMHN, please ask your provider’s office to send an order for your imaging to NMC and to schedule an appointment with us. The office can contact us directly at 802-524-1058 (telephone) or 802-524-1289 (fax).

NMC has absorbed a significant volume of Mammography, MRI, Ultrasound, and CT-Scan imaging due to the UVMHN network outage. Referrals are being reviewed on a case-by-case basis by Supervisors and Radiologists. Some referrals may not be appropriate for us to accept, due to clinical factors or the need to review prior images obtained at UVMMC which are currently unavailable due to the UVMHN computer outage.

The UVMHN outage has also impacted our ability to share images with specialized radiologists at UVMMC. While provisions are in place for emergency cases, non-emergency ECHOCARDIOGRAMS and CARDIOLITE STRESS TESTS are still being rescheduled at this time.

NMC and other neighboring hospitals continue to do all we can to help reduce the strain on the directly impacted UVMHN facilities. We appreciate your understanding as our valued partner’s recovery efforts continue.
