LPN Bridge Program

Ready to take the next step in your nursing career? Our LPN to RN Bridge Program is designed to help current and future Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) advance to Registered Nurse (RN) while continuing to work and earn a steady income.

Through a structured partnership with Vermont State University (VSU), participants complete the standalone ADN bridge year beginning in the fall, with individualized planning and leadership support along the way.

Bridge participants:

  • Work two 12-hour shifts per week (24 hours)
  • Are paid for 36 hours per week
  • Coordinate schedules with their nurse leader to align with school requirements
  • Have an RN position incorporated into workforce planning upon successful completion and licensure

Participation levels are based on unit needs, staffing ratios, and our ability to safely support the LPN role within each department. Because LPN and RN scopes differ, each unit can support a limited number of bridge participants at a time.

  • Current NMC LPNs accepted into VTSU’s standalone ADN bridge year
  • Prospective LPN candidates who apply through our LPN Bridge job posting

Current employees meet with their nurse leader and Organizational Development to ensure readiness and alignment with professional goals before entering the program.

In addition to paid educational release time, participants receive:

  • Ongoing leadership guidance
  • Academic and scheduling coordination
  • Access to well-being and organizational support resources

Our goal is not just advancement, it’s long-term success as an RN at NMC.

If you’re considering the next step in your nursing career, we encourage you to reach out to learn more about program expectations, post-graduation commitment, and upcoming opportunities.

ASPIRE Nurse Residency Program

Unique to NMC, the ASPIRE program is a nurse residency program for new grads, or experienced nurses who are new to a hospital setting. The program is designed to have classroom / didactic time to review and become familiar with policies, procedures, equipment, and standards of care in advance of starting orientation on the unit.

The ASPIRE nurses will meet periodically to continue to advance their skills and spend time doing simulation at our Congress & Main Street teaching facility, all while having a cohort of nurses to support each other through the start of their nursing careers.

NMC & Vermont State University Registered Nurse Scholarship Program

Are you pursuing a Registered Nurse degree through Vermont State University (VSU)? This scholarship covers the cost of tuition for the nursing program and offers you employment throughout your education and beyond. Available to high school graduates who reside in NMC’s service area or are dependents of NMC employees, you must meet the requirements outlined by VSU’s RN Program.
