Introducing telemedicine

Telemedicine Expanding at NMC to Supplement In-Person Care

We are pleased that patients have been so welcoming of the exciting capabilities of our new telemedicine services. With the onset of COVID-19, telemedicine has emerged as a beneficial tool in helping to ensure that personalized healthcare is delivered by the local providers you trust in a safe, convenient, and effective manner. Plus, this form of treatment is now covered by insurance.

NMC’s team is now using telemedicine for a broader range of services than you may realize. NMC has been this community’s trusted hospital and healthcare provider since 1883 – and now we can connect with each of our patient virtually as we move into the future together!

We are currently offering telemedicine visits for the following services:

  • Addiction Services
  • Cardiology
  • Diabetes Education
  • Ear, Nose & Throat
  • Endocrinology
  • Neurology
  • Nutrition consults
  • OB/GYN
  • Ophthalmology
  • Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation
  • Pediatrics
  • Physical Therapy
  • Primary Care
  • Pulmonology
  • Surgery
  • Urology

The process for arranging a telemedicine visit is easy. Just call us at the normal number for the service or practice!  When scheduling an appointment, the service provider will let you know if a telemedicine visit is an option and give you instructions on how to make the connection, which will typically be through telephone, Zoom, or the NMC patient portal.

Telemedicine is proving to be incredibly convenient for patients—visits are easy to schedule, have minimal wait times, and there’s no need to worry about transportation.

At the same time, NMC’s facilities are thoroughly and properly cleaned in full alignment with best practices and we have all the proper procedures and protective equipment in place for safe in-person care when that is the best medical option. Do not hesitate to come to our Emergency Department for any medical emergency and know that our Urgent Care in St. Albans is open and safe for your urgent care needs. We are currently working through plans to re-start elective surgeries and procedures for when we have the official direction to restore those services. We look forward to phasing more services back in to in-person availability as well.

We believe telemedicine will be increasingly relied upon as a means of providing even greater access to quality healthcare. Our goal is to be able to offer telemedicine visits for virtually anything that doesn’t require an in-office or hospital test or procedure. Rest assured, we will always let you know when we feel a physical meeting is necessary. There will be no compromises on that front. Methods of delivery are changing but quality of care will always be our top mission.

To learn more detail about any of our telemedicine services, go to the individual service pages and contact the service provider directly.
