NMC Welcomes New Vice President of Physician Services

Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce that Amy Putnam has accepted the position of Vice President of Physician Services at the hospital.

Putnam comes to NMC from Northwestern Counseling and Support Services where she worked in a variety of roles since 2001. Most recently, she served as the Director of Finance and Administration for nearly eight years, acting as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to that Putnam was the Director of Quality and Risk Management at NCSS as well as the Quality Manager, Compliance Officer and Health and Safety Officer.

The VP of Physician Services oversees all of NMC’s physican-led practices, a position that Putnam said is a good blend of financial and operational responsibilities. “What I love most about my new roles is the diversity amongst practices and learning about what drives each of them,” she said. “We’re facing challenging obstacles related to healthcare reform in Vermont. The exciting part of the work is getting involved locally as well as at the state and federal level to help impact positive change. It’s definitely a marathon and not a race,” she said.

Amy has exceptional skill in establishing relationships and effective teams,” said NMC CEO Jill Berry Bowen. “Her engaging and supportive style is already leading to positive results and I am thrilled to have her join our executive team.”

Bowen also said that Putnam’s enthusiasm for caring for the community in which she lives is heartwarming.

Putnam spends a great time volunteering on boards including the Board of Directors for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont and the Samaritan House. She said she also enjoys spending time with family and friends, skiing, hiking, traveling and boating. “Working in the community where I live is incredibly important to me personally as it affords me greater flexibility to participate in my children’s school and sports activities,” she said.
