Dr. John Minadeo Earns the 2018 Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award

Dr. John Minadeo, Medical Director of Northwestern Medical Center’s Emergency Department, was honored with the Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award at NMC’s Medical Staff Appreciation Dinner held last week.

The award was created in 2011 to honor a provider with a “passion for excellence and dedication to the patients of our community.” Its namesake, Dr. Esguerra, was known as a caring, passionate and inspirational physician who loved both the science and art of medicine.

Dr. Lowrey Sullivan, NMC’s Chief Medical Office, said that Dr. Minadeo has followed in Dr. Esguerra’s footsteps with a strong foundation in patient care, providing the best even under difficult circumstances. He also highlighted Dr. Minadeo’s passion for leadership and his role as Medical Director of both the ED and Urgent Care. Dr. Sullivan also praised his willingness to step in recently as the Director of the Hospitalist Team.

Dr. Minadeo joins a list of “Deo Award” honors that that includes Dr. Toby Sadkin, Dr. Fred Holmes, Dr. Frank Zsoldos, Dr. Mike Corrigan, Dr. Robert Zelazo and Dr. Stephen Payne. Several of those providers were on hand at the dinner to congratulate the new honoree, including Dr. Sadkin.

In addition to the presentation of the Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award, NMC’s Annual Medical Staff Appreciation Dinner featured the introduction of new providers, celebrated accomplishments and highlights from the year, and recognized physicians and advance practice clinicians who have achieved milestones in length of service during the year.

NMC CEO Jill Berry Bowen praised the group of providers attending the event.  “Thank you for all that you do for NMC and our community each and every day,” said Bowen.
