When NMC’s renovated main entrance reopens on Wednesday, December 21, the newly-widened roadway also opens to traffic headed to the entrance and onward to the Emergency Department.

The main entrance roadway had previously been one-way to ensure ambulances had enough room to pass unobstructed. As part of NMC’s Master Facility Plan construction, the road was widened to allow for two-way traffic in the area past the main entrance.  

The hospital’s front entrance has been closed since the summer and visitors to the main building had been re-routed through the Conference Center entrance at NMC.

Patients and visitors using the new, larger porte cochere, and larger glassed-in vestibule will appreciate the lobby’s open design, stonework, and reclaimed woodwork. A new gift shop is one of the highlights of the new space, which also includes offices for NMC’s Concierge team, the Security team and a valet service – to begin operation later this year.  

Important Note:

• Outpatient Lab Still at Doctors Office Commons: Patients needing bloodwork should visit the Outpatient Lab at the #1 suite of Doctors Office Commons.
• Northwestern Cardiology and Pulmonology Still at Doctors Office Commons: Both these practice remain in the #10 suite of Doctors Office Commons.
