Scheduling Challenges with Diagnostic Imaging Appointments
We’d like to share an update regarding our Diagnostic Imaging (DI) scheduling services at Northwestern Medical Center. We are currently navigating staffing challenges on our scheduling team.
Recent vacancies have at times reduced our team to a single scheduler, leading to longer-than-usual phone hold times and delays in processing routine referrals. We are glad to share that we have successfully recruited new team members and are training those new staff. It will take us a bit longer to get back to full capacity. For context, DI receives an average of 887 calls and 2,000 faxes for external orders each week. That team will do its best to get on top of this volume as soon as possible.
To help us serve you better during this transition, we ask for your assistance with the following:
- Use Voicemail: If you are unable to reach us by phone, please leave a detailed voicemail that includes the patient’s name, date of birth, and the type of imaging needed. We are monitoring these messages and will return your call as soon as possible.
- Manage Expectations: While we are exploring digital solutions to reduce manual processes, please anticipate continued delays for routine appointments during this transition period.
