Northwestern Medical Center Appoints Interim Chief Executive Officer and Interim Chief Administrative Officer
The Northwestern Medical Center Board of Directors today announced the appointment of Gerald “Jerry” Barbini as interim chief executive officer and Dawn Bugbee as interim chief administrative officer. Barbini and Bugbee succeed CEO Jill Berry Bowen, RN, who previously announced plans to transition from her role this year.
“Jerry and Dawn are proven leaders, each with a track record of helping community hospitals achieve operational and financial success,” said Janet McCarthy, President of the Board. “I am confident they will provide outstanding leadership, and the resources and support needed to allow NMC to progress and achieve our goals and objectives while the board searches for a permanent chief executive.”
Barbini joins Northwestern Medical Center with more than 40 years of experience in community and critical access hospital leadership. For the latter half of his career, Barbini has held chief executive officer positions with various hospitals through QHR Health, Northwestern Medical Center’s longtime management partner. Most recently, Barbini was president and CEO of Allegan General Hospital in Allegan, Michigan.
Bugbee is a veteran financial executive who most recently served as chief financial officer and vice president of finance for publicly traded Green Mountain Power Corp. in Colchester, Vermont. From 1989 to 2006 she was a member of the Northwestern Medical Center team, first as assistant financial officer and then chief financial officer, during which time she led initiatives to advance the hospital’s financial stability and growth and oversaw investments in information technology and facilities development.
Barbini and Bugbee will assume their roles in the coming weeks. The Northwestern Medical Center Board of Directors and QHR Health will soon begin a national search for a permanent chief executive officer.
