New Cardiologist Speaks at Auxiliary Meeting
On Thursday, September 12, NMC’s Auxiliary Board and Membership held one of their regular meetings, hearing from guest speaker Dr. Steven Anisman – NMC’s new cardiologist.
The Auxiliary membership meets four times a year in September, November, February and April and each meeting features a speaker – this month focusing on an introduction of Dr. Anisman, who is a full-time cardiologist, employed by NMC. He joins Dr. Adam Kunin, Dr. Tracy Hagerty, and Dr. Jan Denkmann in the practice.
During the business portion of the meeting, the membership voted to make a donation of $31,000 to NMC’s Restaurant and Catering team to purchase a new meal delivery system. This system uses induction and insulated bases to keep hot food hot and cold food cold. Since the pandemic, NMC had been using disposable plates, cups and utensils, and the new system will give patients a much better dining experience. The system will also reduce waste as all the components of the tray top system can be easily washed in specially designed racks. Auxiliary members voiced their support for the improvement in patient experience, the increased efficiencies and reduction in waste.
Also during the meeting, the Board and President Maris Rock, reported on the various areas of responsibility for the Auxiliary, which has a mission of supporting Northwestern Medical Center through fundraising and positive community relations. The meeting was well attended by 42 members, who enjoyed a catered lunch from NMC’s Restaurant and Catering team.
New Auxiliary members are always welcome. Please contact the Auxiliary/Volunteer office at Northwestern Medical Center at 524-1055 if you are interested in becoming a member or volunteering for your local community hospital.
