The CPG Coordinating Council gathered to rate blinded DAISY Award nominations to choose the winner. The DAISY Award® was awarded to one of NMC’s nurses on Wednesday, October 14th.
Kevin King, an RN in the Emergency Department, was honored with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. Three excerpts from the nominations said:
“Kevin provided holistic care to a patient in need… The patient is difficult to deal with, but Kevin didn’t let that stop him from giving the patient the TLC they needed. Kevin showered and bathed the patient despite numerous obstacles on the path to proper hygiene. Kevin is known for his holistic care of all patients. He goes above and beyond as a team player, always.”
“Kevin provided exceptional care for a patient that is known to be uncooperative and sometimes even verbally abusive towards staff… Kevin took the time to bring the patient to a shower. Kevin was not even the patient’s primary RN. He went above and beyond for teamwork.”
“Today, Kevin was working in the Emergency Department. A patient arrived who was in great need of personal care. The patient was very resistive to care and all interventions… Kevin, who was not the primary nurse, intervened, was able to build rapport with the patient and assist them to the shower. Kevin went above and beyond to assist this patient with self-care and ensuring they were clean, affirming their dignity… Kevin has always demonstrated immeasurable compassion and is an inspiration to all around him. I feel this extraordinary act of empathetic benevolence warrants additional recognition of the Daisy Award.”
Thank you Kevin for providing such exceptional care! We appreciate you.🩵 For more information on The DAISY Award®, click this link for all details. https://www.daisyfoundation.org/
