Special Connection for the Jarvis’The soldiers of the US Army’s 131st Engineering Company had decided ahead of time; they would all sacrifice their personal internet time for their buddy Kevin, whose wife was expecting their first child. This allowed Kevin, with a little help from the Family Birth Center nurses and the IT folks at Northwestern Medical Center, to experience the birth of his daughter Payton while on duty in Iraq, half a world away.
Our program is designed to help improve healthy outcomes for moms and babies, combining group-based Our Healthy Beginnings program is designed to improve healthy outcomes for moms and babies. This group class gives you the chance to learn about maternal-child health, connect with other women at similar stages of pregnancy and to meet our OB/GYN provider team.
The class meets on Monday evenings from 6-8 pm in the Family Birth Center’s Conference Room.
What to Expect:
Focused on you and your baby’s health, our goal is to provide a rich learning environment to make your journey through pregnancy easier and more fulfilling. You will hear information on topics like:
• Common discomforts
• Healthy habits for you and your baby
• Understanding the exams & tests
• Care for your newborn
• Your health after giving birth
During the series, you will get a chance to tour our Family Birth Center and get a feel for the environment.
You will also meet all the physicians on our team and have a chance to learn more about them.
We will also connect with lactation consultants for early help with breastfeeding.
