Alexis Messak, NP
Alexis joins Northwestern Medical Center with years of critical care nursing experience, including over five years in a Cardiovascular ICU. She obtained her Master’s of Science in Nursing from St. John Fisher University in 2022, then worked as a Medical ICU Nurse Practitioner in Syracuse, NY. She recently relocated to Vermont with her family and is excited to join the NMC Team.
When asked why she got into her field, Alexis said: “I've always had a natural instinct for being a caretaker and a helper. I've had many close relatives that work in the field, and as early as I can remember, common activities for me included things like flipping through anatomy and physiology textbooks or watching medical documentaries. I chose to go into the nursing profession because it allowed me to cast a wide net of possibilities in healthcare. My goal when I became a nurse practitioner was to stay close to patient care, while also assuming a greater responsibility to my patients.”
Alexis said she wants to educate patients about their health, so they are confident making informed decisions about their care and feel supported advocating for themselves. She feels no one knows a patient better than themself or loved ones and hopes she can leave people feeling heard and valued.
