Are there Local Career Opportunities in Healthcare?

Yes!  The career opportunities in healthcare are numerous, varied, rewarding, and available now!  Doctors and nurses immediately come to mind with bright employment prospects for both, yet healthcare offers many additional opportunities for a wide variety of backgrounds, training, and interests. Jobs are available on a full-time, part-time, and per diem basis. Plus, the settings for healthcare workers are diverse as well – including hospitals, provider practices, home health agencies, and more, all available locally, without the need for a commute out of our area. Most importantly, working in healthcare offers the opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of others right her in our communities on an everyday basis. If making a difference for others is important to you, we would like to talk to you about a career in healthcare here locally!

On Thursday, June 7, NMC is partnering with Franklin County Home Health Agency (FCHHA) and NOTCH (Northern Tier Centers for Health) to host a healthcare career fair.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about these three prominent local healthcare providers and explore current (or future) job openings.  If you are interested, or even curious, about joining our efforts to care for our community, we would love to meet you.  Please join us between 3pm and 6pm on June 7th in NMC’s Green Mountain Conference Room (located in NMC’s conference center on our main campus at the top of Fairfield Street in St. Albans) to meet members of our organizations and explore the possibilities.

Between our three organizations, we have current opportunities for: Environmental Services, RN Management, Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapist Assistants, Licensed Nursing Assistants, Care Attendants, Advanced Practice Providers, Radiologic Technologists, Practice Support Specialists, Patient Access Representatives, Care Coordinators, Pharmacy Technicians, Medical Assistants, and Licensed Alcohol Drug Abuse Counselors.

While many of these positions require special training, others are entry-level positions that are accessible with a high school diploma (or a GED).  Often, individuals join our team in one role and then make good use of our internal training programs and our tuition reimbursement to build their skills to take on new roles and advance their careers without having to leave the organization. We are excited to talk to individuals who may want to join our team in Environmental Services or Patient Registration for example as they pursue a path towards nursing or information technology or any of our other exciting career fields.

Career development is only one of the important benefits available to those in healthcare careers.  At NMC, we place an intentional emphasis on competitive pay and benefits.  We offer a strong BC/BS Accountable Blue health plan; the award winning HealthyU employee wellness program (including health coaching and wellness incentives); Delta Dental insurance; VSP Vision benefits; life insurance; long- and short-term disability options; tuition reimbursement; retirement savings programs; and so much more – even optional pet insurance to help with your furry family members! All three organizations understand that our people are the key to everything we do, so we each invest in ensuring our employees are well cared for within their professions.

I am so pleased that NMC, Franklin County Home Health, and NOTCH are partnering on this career fair, as we all care for the same community and we share the same commitment to exceptional care and a healthier future for all.  While we are each our own organization, there is strong partnership between us that leads to collaboration and well-coordinated care. Hopefully, having these three organizations in the same room makes it very convenient for you to explore many local opportunities.  To get an advanced look at the current openings, please visit our websites, at: www.notchvt.org; www.fchha.org/join-our-team; and https://www.northwesternmedicalcenter.org. There is not a career more rewarding that genuinely care for our community.   Join us June 7 between 3pm and 6pm to explore how you might join in our efforts to provide exceptional care on our collective journey to a healthier future.
