Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce the birth of our first baby of 2017. On Tuesday, January 3, Alexander Joseph Schuster became the first baby born at NMC in the new year. Parents Jodie and Nicholas Schuster of Swanton were happy to meet their bouncing baby boy who was arrived at 8:04 a.m., weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19-and-a-quarter inches tall.

The Schusters are very familiar with NMC, having had four births in the Family Birth Center. Their son Wyatt is 10, their son Elijha is 5 and the couple also had a daughter Alanna who passed away.

As the first baby born at NMC in 2017, Xander was honored with a hand-made wooden rocking horse and quilt. NMC provided the rocking horse, made by Natural Hardwoods of Highgate Center, and a beautiful quilt is a gift from Mother Bear Quilts of Jeffersonville.

The NMC family would like to wish Xander and his whole family a happy and healthy New Year!
