The Healthy Roots Collaborative (HRC) is a collective impact partnership of nonprofits and community organizations in Northwest Vermont dedicated to strengthening the local food system of our region for the health and vitality of our community.
Partners include Northwestern Medical Center, Franklin County Industrial Corporation, NorthWest Family Foods, South Hero Land Trust, Northwest Regional Planning Commission, and The Abbey Group.
HRC focuses on improving food access, local food and nutrition education, and development of essential infrastructure and programs that support farm viability. They work with Growers & Makers to support strong and innovative food businesses, Buyers to support local procurement, Eaters to have access to healthy local food and the skills to prepare and grow it, and work with Partners to build capacity and resources to further the food system.
As a partnership, we envision a healthy Northwest Vermont with a community rooted in a strong agricultural economy with thriving farms, where all are connected to and nourished by local farms and food.
