Update on Impact at NMC of UVMHN Network Outage

The University of Vermont Health Network continues to work through recovery from the October cyberattack on their computer systems. UVMHN has shared that “While we have well-practiced standby procedures in place to continue providing safe care, the attack has caused variable impacts on services.”

That network outage impacts hospitals like NMC, as we use UVMHN as a reference lab and we care for patients who have health records based there. Progress is being reported daily and as their recovery continues, we ask for your patience with any delays in:

  • turn-around times of certain laboratory testing (including COVID-19 testing);
  • elective surgeries when patients are awaiting delayed test results; and
  • certain specialized radiology examinations (such as non-emergency echocardiogram and cardiolite stress test procedures).

NMC and other neighboring hospitals are temporarily taking on referrals from providers in the UVMHN service area to help reduce the strain on the directly impacted UVMHN facilities. We appreciate your understanding as our valued partner’s recovery efforts continue.
