SUMMARY:Living Strong in Vermont Program (Light Strength Training)
DESCRIPTION:Mondays and Wednesdays\, April 3 to June 19\n3:00 to 4:00 p.m. \nThis strength training course has been designed for those over the age of 40 to reduce the effects of osteoporosis\, but participants of all ages are welcome. After age 40\, we begin to lose a half pound of muscle mass each year. By age 65\, an inactive person has lost as much as one third of their muscle mass\, leading to frailty and increased risk of osteoporosis. Strength training can rebuild lost muscle and strength\, while increasing bone density. Through a series of simple chair-based or standing weight bearing exercises\, you will build bone and muscle strength. This is not an aerobics fitness program. Participants must have had a physical exam in the past year and will need their physician’s approval to participate. \nLocation: Hawk’s Nest Senior Housing\, Community Room\, St. Albans\nProgram Charge: Free\nPre-Registration Required: Call Louise Doyle @ 527-2194

SUMMARY:Living Strong in Vermont Program (Light Strength Training)
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays and Thursdays\, April 4 to June 22\n4:00 to 5:00 p.m. \nThis strength training course has been designed for those over the age of 40 to reduce the effects of osteoporosis\, but participants of all ages are welcome. After age 40\, we begin to lose a half pound of muscle mass each year. By age 65\, an inactive person has lost as much as one third of their muscle mass leading to frailty and increased risk of osteoporosis. Strength training can rebuild lost muscle and strength\, while increasing bone density. Through a series of simple chair based or standing weight bearing exercises\, you will build bone and muscle strength. This is not an aerobics fitness program. Participants must have had a physical exam in the past year and will need their physician’s approval to participate. \nLocation: Hawk’s Nest Senior Housing\, Community Room\, St. Albans\nProgram Charge: Free\nPre-Registration Required: Call Lynne Marie @ 868-3748 to register or for more info
