Due to increased prevalence of COVID-19 in our community, everyone inside an NMC facility (staff, Medical Staff, patients, those accompanying patients, etc.) is required to wear a surgical mask (aka procedure mask, hospital mask — not cloth face coverings). These masks provide a more consistent level of barrier to transmission than cloth face coverings, which is appropriate for the healthcare setting given current circumstances. Cloth face coverings remain an appropriate prevention step in general community settings.
- Cloth to the Door is Okay: If you do not have a surgical mask with you at home, you may wear a cloth face covering as you enter the building and change to a surgical mask at the entrance.
- Masked 100% of the Time Inside: It is NMC’s absolute expectation that these masks will be worn 100% of the time while in any NMC facility (main hospital, Medical Office Building, Cobblestone, provider offices, offsite locations, etc.).
NMC’s precautionary approach has served our patients and our staff well during the pandemic. We have adapted our protocols as new information and new circumstances emerge. We appreciate your understanding and partnership in this ongoing effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to the most vulnerable in our community.
