Are New Providers Improving Access to Care?

Yes! On behalf of all of us at NMC, I am so pleased to welcome a number of remarkable providers to our medical staff this Fall. Here are our new additions in the fields of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Primary Care, and Orthopaedics.

Dr. Elizabeth Disney started practice with Northwestern OB/GYN in August. She is originally from Plattsburgh, NY and recently completed her four-year OBGYN residency at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. I was touched by her words that she enjoys caring for women of all ages, through their greatest triumphs and their most challenging hardships. She spends most of her free time in the outdoors, trail running, skiing and playing on the lake.

We actually have TWO “Dr. Disney”s joining NMC, as her sister, Dr. Cecilia Disney, has also recently joined our medical staff! Dr. Cecilia Disney is a Primary Care provider and joins the teams at Northwestern Primary Care in St. Albans and Northwestern Georgia Health Center. She earned her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed her residency in Family Medicine at Cherry Hill in Seattle, Washington. The sisters are glad to be back in the Northeast, close to family once again.

Dr. Nathan Mauser has just started at Northwestern Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation. Dr. Mauser earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and performed his residency at the University of Vermont Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. He also did a spine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Department of Orthopaedics. He has strong family ties to the area and said that “Vermont and NMC are the perfect blend of natural beauty and community. I have always wanted to work at a community hospital. NMC has allowed me to create a practice specializing in my two favorite areas of orthopaedics: total joint replacements and spine surgery.”

Northwestern Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation also gained another new provider this fall with the addition of Rebecca Winslett, PA. She began her career working in the area of hand surgery, and most recently worked in general orthopaedics at a practice in Massachusetts. She calls orthopaedics her passion and has experience in sports medicine, shoulder arthroplasty, and total joint replacements.

As the team at NMC works to help keep our community healthy, access to care is crucial. These are very competitive times for physician and advance practice provider recruitment. We are fortunate to have the level of quality, work environment, and community it takes to help attract top talent. Please join me in welcoming these providers as we continue to ensure the care need to meet our community needs is available locally. For their contact information, please call Erin on NMC’s Community Relations team at (802) 524-1280 or visit the provider directory section of our website at https://www.northwesternmedicalcenter.org/find-a-provider/
