Dr. Zsoldos Honored With 2nd Annual Deogracias 'Deo' P. Esguerra, MD Service AwardSt. Albans, Vt.--  Dr. Frank Zsoldos, a St. Albans Internal Medicine Specialist, was honored with the 2nd Annual Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award at Northwestern Medical Center’s Medical Staff Appreciation Dinner in early November.  This award was created in 2011 to honor a provider with a “passion for excellence and dedication to the patients of our community.”

“Dr. Zsoldos has served our community tirelessly for many years,” said Jill Berry Bowen, NMC’s Chief Executive Officer.  “He has gone far above and beyond the call of duty as he has dedicated himself to the health care needs of his of his patients.  Not only has he served his patients well, but he has served the hospital well as a member of our Board of Directors and as an active member of many committees over the years.”

Dr. Zsoldos has been on the hospital’s Medical Staff since 1977.  In addition to his own medical practice and his service to the hospital, Dr. Zsoldos serves as Medical Director for Redstone Villa and Franklin County Rehab Center.  He was named the Vermont Health Care Association's Medical Director of the Year for 2006.

In helping present the award, Dr. Lowrey Sullivan, NMC’s Chief Medical Officer, spoke of the award’s namesake, Dr. Deogracias Esguerra.  “Deo was known to many of us as one of the most caring and passionate physicians on the NMC medical staff,” said Dr. Sullivan.  “He was a man who loved both the science and the art of medicine.  He cared about the patients he saw, his community, the nursing staff, and all the other physicians in the hospital.   Deo’s philosophy was about embracing family, which to him meant everyone around him whether at home or at work.  He was inspirational in his passion and commitment to caring and healing.”

Bowen and Dr. Sullivan were joined in presenting the award to Dr. Zsoldos by NMC’s Board President, Paul Clark, and Dr. Fred Holmes, the inaugural recipient of the award.  Dr. Zsoldos was presented with an engraved crystal award and his name joins Dr. Holmes on the commemorative plaque that hangs at NMC.  In accepting the award, Dr. Zsoldos brought his wife Judy with him to the podium, sharing the moment with her as she has actively shared in their practice’s caring and service over the years.  They were then joined by members of their family who had been invited to see the presentation as a surprise for Dr. Zsoldos.

In addition to the presentation of the Deogracias “Deo” P. Esguerra, MD Service Award, NMC’s Annual Medical Staff Appreciation Dinner features the introduction of providers who have arrived in the past year, celebrates accomplishments and highlights from the year, and recognizes physicians and advance practice clinicians who have achieved milestones in length of service during the year.  “Our Medical Staff is so important to our patients, our hospital, and our Community,” said Bowen.  “It is wonderful to be able to come together with them and say thank you for all they do.  They are truly appreciated.”
