Wheelchair Donation Supports Local Veterans
 St. Albans, Vt-- St. Albans VFW Quartermaster Mitch Melton displays two new wheelchairs that were donated to the VFW by the Northwestern Medical Center. The VFW had contacted NMC to inquire about a donation of used wheelchairs to support their members’ needs. When the hospital did not have any used chairs to donate, they decided to purchase two new chairs and donate them to support the Veterans’ needs. Melton expressed his gratitude to NMC for the donation, noting that they had never before had new chairs, and the ones they had previously were often missing pieces like arm rests or foot rests. The VFW loans the wheelchairs and other miscellaneous items to veterans who have a temporary need for them as they face health issues. “Our veterans have given so much to all of us through their service,” said Jonathan Billings, NMC’s Director of Community Services. “We are pleased to be able to make this donation to the VFW as a token of our appreciation for all they’ve done.” For more information about the items the VFW has available for loan to Veterans, please call the St. Albans VFW at 527-0956. |
