Position Title: Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner #10-35

Department:Northwestern Occupational Health
Position Description: Under physician supervision or with collaboration, as license requires, the midlevel provides non-emergent medical care, primary care and/or urgent care and occupational health services in accordance with established treatment parameters of the department, and rules, regulation and bylaws of Northwestern Medical Center. Treats illnesses and injuries and performs physical exams for all ages. Treats and/or refers based on presenting complaints including orthopedic injuries, minor lacerations, removing foreign bodies, minor burns; performs venipuncture, interprets x-ray, PFT, audiogram, lab and other diagnostic testing. Provides on-site care a client companies.

Shift Time Schedule: Availability to work all shifts required.Average Weekly Hours:36-39 hrs/wk
Days:Occasional on-call duty required. Weekends required; up to every other weekend.
The above wage range reflects the minimum and maximum hiring range for this position.

    Qualifications:
    Education:A Nurse practitioner must be a graduate of an approved nurse practitioner program and licensed as a nurse practitioner in the State of Vermont.

    A physician assistant must be a graduate of an approved physician assistant program, certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed as a PA in the State of Vermont; ACLS certification; DEA certificate.
    Experience:At least one-year experience in an appropriate Emergency Department/ Convenient/ Walk-in care/Primary Care setting preferred. Must be able to work cooperatively with supervisory physician, and entire departmental staff. The Midlevel provider will work within limits of training, experience and granted privileges, and must possess awareness and motivation to seek medical supervisory/department assistance when appropriate. Must have working knowledge of diagnostic/therapeutic equipment used in the department. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. May be requested/required to work in other areas of the NMC family of organizations as needed. Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in representing the clinic and Northwestern Medical Center. Must have computer skills.
    Special Skills:Prefer experience reading x-rays, and EKG’s, and performing procedures such as splinting, suturing, and removing foreign bodies.
