Coding Specialist, #10-39

Position Description:
Codes, sequences and abstracts diagnoses and procedures for non-medicare, outpatient surgical records according to ICD-9-CM and HCFA guidelines. Audits ancillary department coding on a rotational basis as needed. Serves as an educational resource for all hospital coders.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of an accredited school for medical record coding required.
Experience:
At least 2 years of medical coding or related work experience required. Must be CCS eligible. Must sit for and pass CCS within one year of hire.
Grade: A-21
Individuals who are pursuing certification will start at a pay grade A-21. Upon completion of certification individual will progress to a pay grade A-22.
