Northwestern Medical Center is pleased to announce our first baby of 2010! On Saturday, January 2, 2010, Bridget and Thomas Thompson, of Franklin, welcomed a daughter, Leah Rae, at 5:32 a.m. Leah weighed 7 lbs, 11 oz, and measured 20 ½ inches long. Leah has one older sister, McKenna, age 2 ½.
Leah was due the day after Christmas, so the Thompsons knew it could be a possibility that she’d be born in the New Year. “We actually came in to the hospital on New Year’s Eve,” said Bridget. “My contractions were 5 minutes apart, but then they stopped when I got here and we went home.” The Thompsons returned to NMC in the early hours of January 2nd, and found that they would still deliver the first baby at NMC in 2010.
As the first baby born at NMC in 2010, the Thompsons received gifts from the community, including a beautiful handmade quilt from the Franklin County Quilters Guild (pictured around Leah), a handmade wooden rocking horse from NMC, a $25 gift certificate from Enosburg Pharmacy, and a case of baby formula from St. Albans Primary Care.
“I love the quilt and the rocking horse,” said Bridget. “It was great to have all the extra attention.”
