 The Northwestern Medical Center Auxiliary has honored Bev McGinn, their first Auxiliary President, with a donation to the hospital. The gift was recognized with a presentation of a Leaf on the hospital’s Tree of Life on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Bev’s sons, Mark and Kevin McGinn, participated in attaching the Leaf to the Tree in their mother’s honor.
“Bev was the first president of the Auxiliary after the St. Albans Hospital and Kerbs Memorial Hospital merged to become Northwestern Medical Center,” said Dolly MacNeil, NMC’s Volunteer Services Manager and Auxiliary Liaison. She left a legacy to the hospital and the community that continues to this day. She initiated the formation of a hospital volunteer program back in 1981, which presently includes 150 volunteers. Bev and another Auxiliary member, Johnette Ducham, took a leap of faith by hiring a production company from New York City to bring “Cardiac Capers” to St. Albans. This biennial fund–raiser is now under local leadership and continues to showcase local talent while raising money to support hospital projects. Bev was such a positive role-model and she inspired confidence through her ”can-do” spirit and caring for her community. The Auxiliary is proud to have her remembered through a leaf on our Tree of Life.”
 The "Tree of Life," on which the Leaf honoring Jane’s memory now resides, is a beautiful maple tree sculpture in the hospital entryway which displays the names of major donors and those who have been honored by major gifts. It has 300 engraveable brass "leaves" which commemorate gifts of $1,000 or more. At the base of the Tree are 12 engraveable "stones" to honor gifts of $5,000 or more.
