Registration Open for 2nd Annual
Community Partners Classic
A hole in one is every golfers dream! For some an entire lifetime is spent outdoors trying to accomplish this feat. On Friday, June 20th, you can achieve a true hole in one by helping three Franklin-Grand Isle based organizations in one shot at the second annual Community Partners Classic golf tournament, presented by Peoples Trust Company. The event will be held at the Champlain Country Club in Swanton, Vermont, and supports the efforts of Northwestern Counseling & Support Services, Northwestern Medical Center, and the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way. Registration for this event is currently underway.

This year, Coach Tom Brennan will be on hand as the event’s celebrity host. After retiring as the “winningest coach” in Vermont history from UVM in 2005, he has continued as a very popular public speaker, he is the co-host of a successful morning drive-time radio show, 'Corm and the Coach', which airs statewide in Vermont, and is also a College Basketball Sports Analyst for ESPN.

“I’ve always been impressed by the giving spirit of this area,” says Brennan. “I was so pleased to be asked to be involved in this event.”

This year’s event will carry a red, white, and blue theme, and will feature a delicious mid-day meal for both the morning and afternoon flights of golfers to enjoy together. The Mystic Mojo Trio will perform for the players’ enjoyment during the luncheon.

Golfers will have a chance to win many fantastic prizes throughout the course of play at various contests, including closest to the pin, longest drive, closest to the line, and the always popular, “first ball in the pond,” among others.

The four par-three holes on the course will offer opportunities to win impressive prizes for a hole in one, including: a membership to Champlain Country Club, a 1-karat diamond from Eaton’s Fine Jewelry, a boat from Boat Headquarters, an automobile from Paquin Motors, and a vehicle from Saturn of So. Burlington.

The three partners in this event, NMC, FGIUW, and NCSS, often work together in various capacities to care for the wide range of health and human service needs of the people of northwestern Vermont. Northwestern Medical Center is a vibrant, not-for-profit, primary care hospital nestled at the top of Fairfield Street in St. Albans, Vermont. The small size of this community hospital brings a family feel to a modern facility with high-tech equipment. The Franklin-Grand Isle United Way is a voluntary human service organization focused on building community resources while addressing local needs. Additionally, United Way seeks to encourage volunteerism and inspire leadership. Northwestern Counseling and Support Services is a private, non-profit, human services agency serving Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. NCSS provides intervention and support to children, teens, and adults with emotional and behavioral problems, mental illness and developmental disabilities.
