Jill Berry Bowen officially joined the NMC team on December 16, 2009. She has been impressed by how welcoming the hospital family— and the entire community— has been in her first weeks. “I was impressed with the amount of time and energy that people took with me to share the history of the hospital and community,” said Jill.
Jill says her first tasks at NMC will be centered on building relationships, understanding the staff, and helping formulate priorities for the organization, including re-energizing the strategic plan. “It’s all about partnership,” said Jill. “I’m very respectful of the history of this organization. I think my skill is really about listening — being able to listen to lots of perspectives and then help formulate those into a strategic direction. I’m excited to look at the niche opportunities that we can be really great at, and see how we can provide easy to access, seamless care for our patients.”
Jill says as she continues to learn more and more about NMC, one thing is abundantly clear: the pride that the community and staff both feel towards this organization. “Everyone wants to be a part of the success of this organization,” said Jill. “There’s a lot of pride, and a lot of reason to be proud.”
A native of Maine, Jill most recently served as Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Mercy Hospital in Portland, ME. Before that, she was Chief Operating Officer for more than 10 years at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, ME. Jill is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been an active leader in state and local health initiatives and community organizations. She has a master’s degree in nursing (M.S.N) and a master’s degree in business (MBA). |
